SHIPPING NOTES. The Alexander is expected early this morning from Nelson with sheep. The Holmdale should arrive from Timaru this morning: to load for Wellington and Wanganul. The Cygnet Is to be dispatched to-night with cargo for Kaikoura and Wellington. The Gale is due from the north to-day, and sails for Dunedin and Timaru. The Orepuki will complete loading here today for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth. The Wingatul should arrive this morning from Wellington with sheep and general cargo from that port. She is to sail to-night for Dunedin.

The Kamona and tho Kamo both land sheep here to-day from Napier and Gisborne respectively. They return to those porta for further loads. The Walatapu Is an expected arrival at Lyttelton to-day from San Francisco, via Auckland. Napier. Wellington, and New Plymonth. She should get away on Friday for Dunedin and Melbourne. The Moeraki is due at Lyttelton on the 23rd inst. from Melbourne, via Wellington. She mils the tame day for Dunedin, Bluff, and Melbourne. The Progress is timed to load here to-mor-row for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Walfcsto.

The Kahika is due to-morrow from Timaru, and i< to sail in the afternoon for Welling, ton. Napier, and Gisborne. Captain A. Siier has replaced Captain J. Flynn as master of the Opihi.

Cable information has been received tb.it the Mataroa. which left Wellington on January 15th, sailed from Colon on Friday afternoon for Southampton and London. Cable advice has been received by the New Zealand 1 Shipping Company that the Purirl sailed from Newport News on February 2nd with enreo for discharge at Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin, Napier, Melbourne, and Sydney. From Newcaitle to load at New Zealand ports, the Matatua radioed that she expected to arrive at Napier at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. She will later complete loading at New Plymouth, Wanganul. Timaru. and Wellington, and is due at Wellington on February 24th. She sails finally on February 26th for London. The Canadian Government Lice's steamer Canadian Explorer was due at Wellington yesterday from Auckland to eontinne unloading Halifax cargo. She wilt sail to-day fer Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. arriving at Wellington aeain on February 23rd. Final departure will be made from Auckland on February 38th for New York, Boston, end Montreal.
