DEATH FROM SCALDS
ACCIDENT TO CHILD
[THE PRESS Special Service.] February 7. An inquest concerning the death of Leslie 'Masters Ball, aged one year and eight months, who died last Friday in the Wellington Hospital, where he had been admitted the previous day suffering from scalds, was held to-day before Mr W. G. Riddel!, Coroner. The evidenc showed that at 9.43 a.m. last Thursday the child's mother, who resides in Palmer street, heard a scream from the pantry, and found that the infant had upset :t billy of scalded milk over its neck and chest. The mill;. v,i:ich had been taken off the stove a quarter of an hour before, had been left standing on a copper about one foot from the edge.
The Coroner relumed a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, that the child died of heart failure following burns accidentally received.
