The committee of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-boat Club met in the Club House on Saturday evening, the Commodore, Mr W- T. I.ejter, occupying the chair. Final arrangements were made in connexion with the smoke oonrert. which is to be held hi the Lytteltor. Club on February 11th, in honour of the vi.-iiin; yachtsmen and delegates who arc attending the Sande-.s. and Cornwell Cup The secretary reported that the visiting creu i would be arriving early in the week, the Sv.ithland representatives being due by the second express to-day. the Otago crews on Tuesday evening, the North Island representatives arriving later in the week. Complete arrangements were made with respect to providing homes for the Cornwell •-'up contestant* during their stay in Lyttclton. this being one of the conditions governing the rentes!. February 39th, on which date the Canterbury Yachting Association will conduct the Canterbury chainpionshi,,, for M footers, when It is anticipated lhat twelve yachts from all over the Dominion will be competing. Another race that will arouse a great amount of enthusiasm and wiil bo sailed in conjunction with the foregoing is a motor-boat race, when it is expected that the speed and power-boats from Itedellffs nnd Brighton wilt be competing.
