♦ ■ PRISONERS SENTENCED AT WELLINGTON. [THE rBESB Bpeclal Service.] WELLINGTON. February 3. Prisoners wero sentenced by the Chief Justice (Sir Charlea Skerrctt) at the Supreme Court to-day. Edward May. Erio Jones, and Albert James Olson appeared tor sentence for receiving stolen silk. His Honour said he did not intend to discriminate among tho prisoners, as he believed them to bo confederates. , , , Each was sentenced to thrco years hard labour. , , Hayniond Neil Ward appeared for sentence for false pretences. His Honour said ho had decided to grant probation, but at tho sarao timo lio had formed a very poor opinion of the prisoner's mora! character and intentions. The prisoner was admitted to probation ior two years, and was ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, £l3 12s. James Walter Houston was admitted to probation for two years for forgery, uttering, and false pretences. His Honour aaid the police report stated that tho prisoner waa industrious. The prisoner was ordcrctt to pay the costs ot tho prosecution. £& «, and to make restitution within twelve mouths. , .. _„„ Jsmee Junk, a labourer,, aged 89 years, was sentenced to 12 months' hsrd labour for committing an indecent act.
