DEFENCE OF CANADA.
ADVICE RESENTED
(DT CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—CO.'WtIQHT.) (ACBTRALTAJf AND IT.E. CABLB ASSOCIATIOX.)
(Received February 4th, 9.35 p.m.) OTTAWA, February 3,
Speaking at the banquot in honour of tho Premier, the Hon. Ernest Lapointe, K.C., Minister for Justice, said: "I cannot see by what process of reasoning it could be argued that autonomy implies more military obligations. May I even suggest that distinguished visitors would perhaps be better advised if they refrained from offering so much advice to tho people of Canada as to how they should deal with matters which are exclusively their own business. Autonomy means selfgovernment in all matters. In problems of defence, as in other questions, it is for tho Parliament of Canada to decide."
