Mr and Mrs Horaco Thompson and Misses Piri and Xgawi Thompson (Avonside) are leaving today for a fortnight's motor tour to Picton and around the Marlborough Sounds. Miss Blanche Atkinson (Fendallon) has returned from Arthur's P. n ss. Miss Thurston, C.D.C., P.JI.C, who was for some time lady superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital, is severing her connexion with the Ptikeora Sanatorium, and is to start early in March on a trip to England, via America. Miss Mao Swanston arrived by the s.s. Moeraki from Sydney yesterday on an extended tour of New Zealand. The engagement is announced ot Kathlene Mavis, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. W. Baty (St. Albans) to Francis Bert, onlv son of Mr and Mrs F. Davy (St. Albans). Advice has been received from Trinity College of Music, London, that Miss Alico A. Wilson, of Barth School of Music, Dunedin. has passed the examination and been approved by the director of tho college for the Fellowship diploma. Advice has been received that Miss Lillian Harper, well known in Christchurch musical circles, had been successful in the recent examination for the A.R.C.M.

On Thursdav evening, the members of the Canterbury Women's Club are holditis a reception in honour of Mrs William Wilson, who is shortly leavinc for Britain. WEDDINGS. MOODY-GORDON. St. Mary's Church. Manchester street, was the scene of a very pretty wedding recently, when Miss Norn Gordon, eldest daughter of .Mrs Gordon and the late .Mr Herbert Gordon, Kanfurly street, was married to Mr " ward T. Mcody, youngest son of "Mr J. G. Moody, and tlie late Mrs MooJy, of Dunedin. The bride, who was given away by Mr J. Laine, looked charming in a French model frock of beige georgette with panels and quaint cape of needlemade lace, caught with a spray of orange blossom on the left shoulder. Her large georgette hat matched her frock, and she carried a bouquet of choice roses, carnations, and maidenhair fern. Miss Lillnce Gordon, wearing a becoming pale Invendar crepe de chine frock relieved»with apricot, and a crinoline hat, with multi-coloured Bowers and ribbon to tone, attended her sister as bridesmaid. Her bouquet was of apricot hothouse flowers. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr P. Kennedy, of Wellington. After the ceremony, n reception was held at Dixieland, where Mrs Gordon received her guests wearing a threepiece suit of deep rosewood cloth, and a large hat of the same colour. When Mr and Mrs E. T. Moody left hr motor for their wedding tour, the bride wore an uncommon ensemble suit of powder blue georgette, bankok hat, and a handsome black fur coat with brown skunk trimmings. VOICE—PHILPOTT. A very quiet but pretty wedding took place recently at St. Michael's Church, the Rev. Charles Perry officiating, when Lionel Joseph, only son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Voice (Upper Biccarton), was married to Edith Lilian, daughter of Mr and Mrs Isaac Philpott, of Happy Valley. Tho bride, who was given, away by her father, wore a beautiful frock of powder blue georgette over an underdress of shell pink georgette, whilo her hat of. crinoline straw, in the same shade as her frock, was trimmed with ribbon and a spray of pink and silver flowers. Her shower bouquet was of pink carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss Leila Voice,' sister of the bridegroom, wore a dainty frock of almond green crepe de chine, with vest of white crepe de chine, while the panels of the skirt were trimmed with rueking. Her hat was of black satin and lace, and she carried a bouquet of sweet peas. The. bridesmaid also wore a silver expanding wristlet watch, the gift of her brother. ' Mr George Salt earried out the duties of best man.

On leaving the church, the happy couplo were presented with two white ribbon : horseshoes as tokens of good luck.

A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Matthew's Church, St. Afbans, <m Wednesday afternoon, when Monica Muriel, eldest daughter of Mrs Gavin Dalgiel and the lato David Douglas, Waiau, was married to Eric Francis, youngest son of Mr and Mrs It. Mercer, Waiau. The Rev. Canon Hamilton performed the marriage ceremony and Mr L. S. Pilgrim presided at tho organ. The bride, who was given away by her mother,, wore a dainty gown of cream georgette, with an cverskirt of the material in front with ruchnig at each side in a diamond shape outlined with real laco. The long bishop sleeveswere caught into a tight band of laco at the waist and her long veil, handsomely embroidered, fell in soft fojds forming a train and was caught with a double band of pearls. She, carried a bouquet of pale pink sweet peas, carnations, and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Misses Alice and Agnes Douglas, sisters of the bride, tho former wearing deep shell-pink goorgetto and the latter apple-green georgette made with a high-Baistid bodice and a full skirt trimmed with silver laco. Tulle to match was folded round the shoulders and held with a diamond and pearl motif. Distinctive black crinoline hats each trimmed with a pink flower were worn and each carried a bouquet to tone with her frock. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Norille N. Farr as best man and Mr D. Gordon Smith as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Winton street Hall, where tho tables were decorated with chuico flowers. The guests were received by Mrs Daniel, who wore a becoming frock of tnauTe repp trimmed with pearlgrey crepe do cnine, with a smart grey crinoline hat trimmed with cyclamen flowers to tone, and her bouquet was pink roses and mauve sweet peas. Mrs Mercer, the bridegroom's mother, wore a handsome black crepe de chine and a black hat and carried a bouquet of red roses and gypsophila. Many old friends attended to do honour to the bride and bridegroom, among them being Mrs Thomas Derrett (Waiau), grandmother of the bride. In the evening an enjoyable dancei was held in the Winton street Hall, Fred Smith's orchestra supplying the music.

When the hride left for her wedding tonr she wore a pretty frock of blue repp with a cape lined with sifter grey crape de chin* caught at the traiftt and a blue crinoline hat trimmed with veU ret ribbon of the mum ihado.
