WILLOWBRIDGE ROAD RACE. The ieoond WUlowbrldge cycle road race, held on Thursday night, was even mar* enthusiastically supported thin the pravloup one. The crowd was not disappointed, the race proving an exalting contest from start to flnieh, all the twelve riders doing their very best. The bandtcappers, Messrs J. 0. Faulkner and J. fiorthwiek, are to be congratulated on the successful results o( their work. Mr L. 0. McLauchlan, ac timekeeper and judge, rendered indispensable service, and Mr A. J. Bbskins proved an efficient starter. The financial side of the race was in the bauds of Mr A. Cruickabank, who acted as treasurer. The race respited as follows : J. Bennett (41 mia) 1; R. Mills (Jrhln) 3; J. Claude <s|tnin) 3. P. Hansen (s}min) first non-plnced rider under 16 past the pott. A. Hansen (scr) fastest time (83mln 38sec). 0. Woods (scr) second fastest time (S3min 38 1-SSBC). After tho race (he crowd gathered in front of the halt, where Mr h. 0. MoLauchlan complimented the winners, and presented the prizes as follows:—Flrat prise, gold medal, valued at IS presented by Mr J. 0. Faulkner, and a trophy, value £1 Is, presented by McLauchlan Bros; second prize, trophy order to the value of SI 10s; third prise, trophy order for 15s; prize for first' past tho pott under 10, non-placed, trophy order value 10s; fastest time, trophy order for £1 10s; second fastest time, trophy order for 15s. Mr McLancblan appealed to tho riders to keep on training, and enter for tho Waimate road race a month hence. The sptaker wao accorded three hearty cheers, the bandlcappers also receiving applause.
