DOMAINS BOARD.
The Domains Board .met yesterday afternoon, Air George Harper presiding. Tile Curator of the Chrißtchurch Gardens (Mr Jus. Young) reported that the old native section had been cultivated, and the herbaceous and shrubbery borders kept in a good state The tobo garden was showing well for the second bloom. A valuable collection of plants had been added to the rook garden. The Canterbury Rugby Union asked tho Board to proceed shortly with tho erection of conveniences in the South Park. Tho Royal Visit Reception Committee advised that tho Duke of York would plant a, treo in tho Gardens, during his visit to tho Garden Fete on March 15th. It was dorided' to request the committeo to leave the Board to mako its own arrangements. Tho M.E.D., replying to the Board's enquiry for the installing of a pumping plant for the fountain in tho Gardens, quoted £l3l for a pump deriving its supply from the pond and £95 for a pump from the river. The Canterbury Basketball Association approached the Board with reference lo the proposed building of a pavilion in Haglcy l'ark for tho use of basketball players.
