* MARTON, February 4. . Tha fiftieth anniversary of theßangitikei County Coanal was celebrated yesterday at. a gathering of council chairmen and ex-members. Hie party included the Hon. Mr Newman, Messrs Glenn and Hoekry, M.P.'s, and Mr C. M. Qalpin. a pioneer who settled in Rangitikei in 1866. An interesting historical sketch of the county's history was read by Mr H. H. Richardson, who has been clerk for thirty-four years, showing the remarkable progress of what is now claimed to be tho most important county in the Dominion.
