'V\>c sailing ship Helen Moore, with her sails blown away l>y a gale, the velocity of which was i'.O miles an hour, drifted off Queer-fcliff (Victoria) until daylight. The lifeboat crew was summoned by the rin«inj* of the wreck bell, which brought hundreds to the pier. A rocket from the Helen Mooro was also scon by the .lestrover Yarra, which was anchored at Swan Island Naval Depot. Tho destroyer joined in tho search for the distressed vessel, but fruitlessly, no further distress signals being scon.
At daylight the Helen Moore was located, apparently aground. Hie lifeboat again put out and brought the crew ashore. Later a tn<r left to bring the Helen Moore to port.
