A disastrous bush fire is raging on a 20-mito front near Chiltern, causing onormous damage. Four people were severely burned and two are missing. The fire, fanned by a cyclonic gale, reached to within two miles of Beecnworth. The township of Cockatoo is also menaced. Appeals for volunteers ha\*e been sent to neighbouring, towns.
