AT ENGLISH PARK. Tlio directors of English Park have a reputation of providing tho best for their patrons, in whatever department Ih»y aro interested for tho time being. With the advent of tho famous Australian Commonwealth Band to Christcburch, negotiations were ontorcd into, with tho result announced in our advertising columns to-day. To-morrow night at eight o'clock the Australians will toko the boards, and givo one of their specially prepared open-air programmes. With weather aucb as we are having at tho moment, there is no question that such nn occasion as tho ens provided will mark an epoch in tho history of English Park and Chnsichurch. It is interesting to note thftt Mr Bsile and his men have had exceptional training for al fresco concert work. In Australia tho various cricket grounds were literally alive with interested listeners. In Adelaide tho Jubilee Oval held fifteen thousand people one evening, while the following week the samo grounds registered over twenty thousand! In Johannesburg, South Africa, Liverpool, and tho'various watering places of tho Old Country, pcoplo flocked by tho tcn.t of thousands. At Wigan tho Mayor of the city wrote that tho Australian Band hed paid three official visits during last season, and on each occasion tbo attendance had grown to such an extent that the last timo a record was created ' fdr all time. The experience of other places ran l be followed by Christchurch to-morrow night, when English Park should be the centre of ten thousand people.
