TO-MORROW'S MATCH AT MONICA PARK. One of the two star item's at tho M<!iica Sports Carnival on Saturday will be the special match 'race between Dob Spears, the international champion, nnd New Zealand s greatest rider. Phil O'Shea. and it is expected that tho meeting of these two champions will provide excellent and cicitin; riding. O'Shea showed a remarkable return to form when he defeated Macfcic on WYdncsd.iy evening, nnd he is the idol of the Chri-tchurch public Victory ou Saturday would undo-ibi-edly set the seal on his ere.it career. The match will be run in threo heats. The second star event of the evening is the challenge tug-of-war between the champion team of the Dominion. Knfield, and a team from Woolston Tanneries. Woolston arc keen to beat their (treat rivals, and a substanfial side-wager has been put up by both tenm< which the promoters are subsidising with a cood purse. The match is the best out of three pulls of five minutes each. Several other interesting events are included in the programme. During tho afternoon the monster baby show will be held, and "chocolate alley" and other sideshows will be in full swing.
