NAVY LEAGUE.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee of the Navy League was held last evening, Mr J. J. Dougall presiding. The secretary reported that there bad been twenty-two enrolments and two resignations since last meeting. With reference to the presentation of essay prizes, the chairman stated that ir.25 essays wcro written in the primary schools competitions, of which 103 were sent in by head teachers. In the secondary school* competition, seven schools competed, 13 essays being sent in in Class A, and 13 essays in Class B. The chairman roporlcd that the New Zealand conference would bo held in Christchurch on March 30th and 31st. It was decided to ask the Mayor to accord tho delegates to tho conference a civic reception. .... . It was also decided to ask LieutensntCoramnndcr Mnrsdcn to make a visit to Christchurch if possible; also to send a letter of welcome to Rear-Admifal Lawson. It wag resolved that tbo competition for tho Navy Leaguo cup between tho Christchurch and Lyttelton Yachting Clubs bo held on February 19th, during the contests for the Sanders and Cornwoll Cups.
