PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS.
AUSTRALIAN WATERSIDERS' CASE. (BT CABLE—PHE33 ASSOCIATION—COPT3IOHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLB ASSOCIATION.) MELBOURNE, February 2. In the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, his Honour, Mr Justico Beeby, in delivering judgment in tho waterside workers' claim, deferred the question of preference, stating that before deciding the claim he wishes the executive of tho Federation to consider whnt steps it is prepared to take to ensure the observance of the award, and prevent branches imposing local rules and issuing orders to members, contrary to the award of the Court. At present he had not formed an opinion that preference was necessary.
