HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS. EVENING MEETING. 'llic Iligli School Old Boys' Association held uu athletic meeting at Lancaster Park last evening. Tho racing was of a high standard, good tilling being recorded. A meeting of tho executive of the Canterbury centro of tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association -was held last night. Mr W. Flewellyn presided. The Canterbury representative team to compete in the championships was approved. M. Leadbetter was appointed captain add manager. Messrs Clark and Leadbetter wero appointed delegates to l:bo Association's conferences at Auckland. It was decided to write to the Otago Centre advising thrt tho Canterbury Centro could not avail Itself of J. J. Brovnloo's services in Auckland, and hj« would therefore be available as an Otago representative. Tho secretary reported that tho Centre's meetirfg had resulted in a profit balance of £7 ss. The Waiknri Club was granted permission to hold n meeting on Easter Monday, and the programme was approved, with the exception of the prefixing of the championships with the word "Canterbury." I The executive meeting was followed by the quarterly meeting of delegates, Tho secretary's action in joining with other Centres in a protest against the championships at Auckland all being held on ono day, Saturday, was approved. Tho secretary reported that some of tbe events would, as a consequence, be held on the Friday, Tho chairman reported that arrangements for the Lamb meeting were well in hand, and English Park Stadium would be available. SPORTS AT PALMERSTON NORTH. (rUF.SS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) PALMERSTON X.. February 2. The appearance of It. W. Lamb, the Australasian cycling champion, F. J. Grose, the New Zealand champion, and T. Oakley, the - ex-New Zealand champion, added interest « to tho Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's annual sports to day. Lamb (scr) ran fourth in the half-milo handicap, which was won by a local man. Grose did not start. In the final of the mile handicap all three scratch men were placed in the heats, but Lamb, ou'ine to illness, was not able to compete in tho final. Grose pulled out in the last lap, while Oakley ran third. The event was won by Anderson (Feildinc). The result of the Manawatu wheel race, two miles, was: Lamb 1, Oakley 2, Grose i!. By the time the last lap was reached only <ix riders were left. Lamb and Oakley provided a thrilling finish, sprinting from half ff.iv round the lap.
