DRINK BILL.

The Government Statistician reports that the South Australian drink bill between 1914-15 and 1920-21 has nearly doubled. This is due to the substantial increaee in prices, while during the same period the quantity consumed a head of population and convictions for drunkenness a thousand of the population decreased considerably. From 1920-21 to 1925-26 the value consumed a head'increased only slightly, but there has been a steady increase in convictions. For the year ended June, 1926, the drink bill was £5 7s lid an inhabitant, compared with £5 5s 2d in the previous year, and £2 19s 2d in 1914-15.
