MAILS FOR LONDON. [THE PEESS Special Bervtc».] WELLINGTON, January 17. Regarding the dispatch Of mails for Great Britain and tho Continent of Europe, the. Postmaster-General (Son. Mr Nosworthy), announces that arrangements have been onade for the route via Australia to be utilised Whenever it offers a better dispatch than the next outward Vancouver or San Francisco mail.

For approximately eight months of the year, from October to May inclusive, a fortnightly service between Australia and Great Britain is maintained by steamers of the Orient line. Mail matter from New Zealand sent to Sydney on the Friday of the week that the San FrancißCO or Vancouver mail is dispatched, will connect with an Orient Steamer and will reach London about four days earlier than the next outward Vancouver or San, Franeieco mail from New Zealand. Only correspondence marked via Australia will be sent by the Australian route.
