"THE MESSIAH."

COMBINED CHOIRS. Tuesday and Wednesday nights of next week are the dates on which the "Messiah" will be rendered by the choir of over 200 voices, under the conductorship of Mr Victor C. Peters. The following twenty-five church choirs from Christchurch and surrounding districts will be represented in the combined choir:—Methodist: Onion, Addington, Papanui, Rugby street, Edgeware road, East Belt, Sumner, New Brighton, Redcliffs, Spreydon, Cambridge terrace, Richmond, Kaiapoi, Durham street, Cashmere Hills, and Lyttelton. Baptist: Oxford terrace, Sydenham, Spreydon, Linwood, and Opawa. Presbyterian: Knox, St. David's, Berwick street, and Riccarton. Congregational: Tennyson street; and the Pentecostal Mission. Both the performances by this combined choir next week will be given at the Oxford terrace Baptist Church. Mr W. Melville Lawry will preside at the pipeorgan. Excellent artists have been engaged tor the solo work—Madame Florence Roscoe. of Wellington, soprano; Miss Dulcie Mitchell, of Christchurch, contralto; Mr Len Barnes, of Wellington, bass; and Mr Arnold Perry, of Dunedin, tenor. The whole performance should be of the highest standard.

IN DURHAM STREET CHURCH. Great music may be repeated wlthont being made ordinary. Such is Handel'b immortal work. A treat is in store for those who propose to be present at Durham street tonight at 8 o'clock, when the combined choirs of Rugby street and Edgeware road, assisted by members of Durham 6treet, will render the oratorio. Mr W. Simpson will conduct the choir of well over 100 voices, while Miss Clarice Bell, L.A.8., will officiate at the organ.
