WAR DISABILITY.
LIABILITY FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES. (PBBSS iSSOCUHOH TRLKBAM.) HAWBRA, November 20. A reserved decision of particular interest to returned soldiers, bearing on the recent legislation providing that returned men are entitled to relief for medical expenses incurred as the result of war injuries, the expenses to be borne by the State, was delivered by the Magistrate, Mr Tate, at Opunake vesterday. He emphasised that although the expenses were incurred prior to the passing of the legislation in 1924, relief could b9 obtained if war injuries were proved to be responsible. The case arose on a claim by a medical practitioner against a returned soldier for professional fees as the result of illness suffered by the defendant in 1923. The Magistrate found that the difficulty arose from plaintiffs neglect to advise the authorities of the matter, and gave judgment for the defendant.
