ELDERLY MAN'S SUICIDE. (FBESS ASSOCIATIOB TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, September 20. An inquest into the death of Thomas Bourke, aged about 60, who was found dead in his room in a boardinghonse in Vincent street, was held before Mr W. It. McKaan, Coroner.

It was stated that one of the boarders noticed a smell of gas in the house, and called the manageress The door of Bourke's room was found to be locked. The window was also locked, and when access was gained deceased was found lying on the floor with a gas tube near him. A letter addressed to the Coroner ■was found in the room. It read: "I am tired of this life of enforced idleness, and am taking this means of terminating it." i The police stated that Bomke was in I receipt of an annuity, and had done no work for about three years. The Coroner found that Bourke com--1 mitted suicide by gas poisoning.
