"Has the Professorial Board considered the question of broadcasting lectures?" asked the Rev. Dr. H. Ranston at a meeting of tho Auckland University College Council. "It seems to me they might," he added', "since so much breadcasting is taking place." "The president is broadcasting a speech on Rotary on Wednesday night," remarked the Hon. Mr Fowlds with a smile. Professor H. W. Segar, chairman of the Professorial Board, said the Board could make enquiries and go into the matter. "Do they want lectures?" asked a member. "Oh, yes," rejoined Dr. Ranston. "They are having lectures on agriculture and all sorts of subjects. The idea would be to broadcast lectures definitely as from the University." It was agreed to recommend the proposal to the Board for consideration. —Auckland Correspondent. A danger zone was created at the corner of Karangahape road and Symonds street at about 10.30 last evening, through a live tramway wire falling. The mishap was caused by the fouling of a trolley pole. One end of the wire hit the ground amid a shower of sparks, the other end remaining banging about three feet above the ground. A touch would have completed the circuit, and have proved fatal. An official was stationed to warn pedestrians and motorists, but even with this precaution a bluejacket and a girl unconsciously got within a few paces of danger. A prompt application of brakes prevented motorists from establishing a contact. Owing to the time of the accident few tram-cars were affected, these "being bound for depots.
