PAPANUI BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
— r-~+--The monthly meeting of the Papanui Burgesses' Association was held m tho Memorial Hall last night, Mr S. E. McCarthy presiding over a fair attendance. Tho Tramway Board wroto in reply to a request to extend the route of tho Bryndwr bus, Btating.'that tho request could not bo acceded to. As to tho request for a nonlslop 'trip to Papanui at 5.10 p.m.. B °"JJ wrote that it would consider this at a later date. . ri , xUtcr considerable discussion it was decided to ask the Tramway Board to continue its routo of tho Bryndwr bus from ■\Vairarapa, road along Idns road, to Blums road, then down Bligh's road to the. \\airarapa road. It was stated that the bus at present stops at the corner of Wairnrapa, road aiw Idris road for at least five minutes, and whilst this Btop is beintr made the suggested additional distance could be run. With regard to tho extension of the scopo of the Association's activities, it was decided to hold this over unlit next meeting In the meantime the committee is to ascertain the boundaries of the Papanui Memorial Hall ratinsr area, with the viow of making that the. district to bo served by tho Association. The secretary wns instructed to ask the Education Board that tho site of the old Papanui School be handed over to the district as a park reserve. The secretary Mr J. Reynolds, stated that the sum of £2G had been collected towards the Memorial Gates to be erected at St. James's Park in memory of the Rev. Thos. N. Griffin. It was decided to ask the City Council to accent payment of this sum. The City Council is tn be asked if the right-of-wav from Church street to St,' James Park has been given yet by the Railway Department; also if an easement has been obtained to tho right-of-way from Harewood road to tho park from Ivory's, Ltd.
