At the inquest on the victims of the disaster to the submarine H 29, two officers gave evidence that an order was given to take in.water,to trim the vessel. The chief stoker misinterpreted the order, and flooded the tanks. The Coroner said that it was. impossible to blame anyone for the mistake. [Seven lives were lost through the ; sinking of the submarine H 29, while undergoing repair in dock at Devpnport. It was suggested the disaster 'was'due to the after-tanks being flooded to enable an examination of the bow to be made, when the ropes holding the bow parted, causing the vessel to list,' and allowing an inrush of water.]
