Canada's international status and ht;r position iu the Empire was brought up in the House of Commons on Monday, on the motion of the Prime Minister, Mr W. Mackenzie King, who asked approval of the principle "that before his Majesty's Canadian Ministers advise the ratification of a treaty or convention affecting Canada, or signify acceptance of any treaty, convention or agreement involving military or economic sanctions, the approval of the Parliament of Canada be secured." Tlie Prime Minister hoped that the House would give its approval to the motion, which had been brought for* ward at this time because the Imperial Conference had been called to meet in October. "By consulting Parliament on great questions," he said, "we shall maintain, without the possibility Of a division or difference, relations between the different parts of the Great Empire. We shall bo ible to further in the most effective way unity within our own country, and unity within the British Empire itself. The Prime Minister intimated that tho Locarno Treaties would be Under discussion at tho nest Imperial Conference, tip to- the present, Canada had not signified her acceptance of the agreements, nor would she until after the conference. Parliament would bo asked to approve of the acceptance of the Locarno Pact before Canada became a party to it.
