SYDNEY, June 17. , What a wonderful woman Nellie Stewart is, and what a wonderful reception she had in the role of "Sweet Nell," in which she has scored so many of her triumphs of the stage, on the revival at the Grand Opera House of "Sweet Nell of Old Drury.' T.\e audience brought her back time and time again on the fall of the last curtain, and' bestowed upon her a magnificent offering of bouquets, which she chivalrously shared with the other lady members of the company, Nellie Stewart is not so young as she was, but to see her in this charming old play, breathing the pleasure-loving, luxurious spirit of the days of' the Stuarts after the Restoration, to watch her impersonating in voice and dress, the merciless Judge Jeffreys, to see.her pouring her contempt upon the Duchess of Portsmouth and Lady Castlemaine, is to feel that : the "golden wine of youth .still., pours ■through her veins. Nellie Stewart, by the way,' has been; tireless'lately in raising money for the hospital radium fund.

Considerable interest is being shown in the demonstrations of the "Savage" Washer and Dryer at "Te Whare," Hereford street (opp. Police Station), at 10.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Soiled laundry is placed in the machine just as you would do at home, and the whole process is carefully explained by the demonstrator, until, twenty minutes after the commencement, the audience handles the _ spotlessly clean half-dry fabrics. It is a truly unique performance and no housewife should fail to visit "Te- Whare" and see bow her laundry problems can be solved. —6
