DOG TRIALS.

WAIAU COLLIE CLUB. The annual sheep-dog trials of the Waiau Collie Club were held on Mr W. D. 'Banks's property. The weather was beautifully ' fine throughout, and there was • targe number of interested spectators on each day. The large number of entries, totalling 171, the great majority of which competed, entailed etrenuona work on the judge and the other officials, but everything went off without a hitch. A word of praise is due to the judge, Mr W. W. Mcßae, for the able I manner in rfhioh he performed his duties, ! and to the energetio secretary, Mr W. Hill, and hia committee, all of whom worked untiringly to make the meeting a thorough buocess. A number of the competitors put up excellent performances. On each day the Waiau Girls' Hookey Club conducted a luncheon and refreshment booth, which was well patronised. The following are the results:— CLASS L (Open, for Maiden Dogs}—HEADING AND BKINGING BACK, about 400 yards. Time, Bmin. First prize £B, second £4, third £2, fourth £l.
