The Rifle Club held, another social and dance in aid of the forthcoming show. There was a fair attendance. Musio for the dancing was supplied by Mrs H, Loney and Mr Pctrie. Mr C. Deavall was M.C. The show schedule, copies of which arc obtainable from the secretary or the local store, has been carafnlly prepared, and the good prize-money offered should attract large entries. Fancy Dtress Social. On Saturday evening the members of the Methodist Young Men's Bible Class successfully conducted a fancy dress social.- The schoolroom had been prettily decorated for <•"* occasion with red and white streamers. programmo contested principally of les and competitions, and in addition is were contributed by Mrs H. Loney, Mr and Mrs C. Gallop, Miss E. Wcnmoth, Miss G. Harris, Miss L. Kirk, and Master F. Otten. Mrs Loney and Miss Harris acted as accompanists. Mr and Mrs Gallop, who judged the costumes, awarded the prizes in the ladies' section to Miss A. Ootgcn (Gipsy) for best fancy dress, and to Miss 0. King (Danger Signal) for most original dress, and in the men's section to Mr A. B. McDowell (Golliwog) for tho most original costume, and to Mr M. A. McDowell ("Mayor of Heathcoto") for best; fancy costume. Those in costume were: Misses A, Ootgcn (Gipsy), C. King (Danger Signal), E. King (Westward Ho Cigarettes), Cf. Redder (Lost Parcel), M. Scott (Topsy), Messrs R. Connolly (Chinaman), W. Connolly (Lady Footballer), R. Connolly (Raleigh Motorist), A. E. McDowell (Golliwog), G. Westbrooke (Cook), M, Cogle (Sailor), and M. McDowell ("Mayor of Heathcoto"). School Committee. At a meeting of the School Committee held on Saturday evening, it was decided to hold a series of euchre tournaments throughout the winter months to raise funds for tho school. £3O FOR GAMING. A CHINESE FINED. WELLINGTON, Msy 3. Low Kum, a Chinese, who had been imprisoned previously for a similar offence in 1923, pleaded guilty in tho Magistrate's Court this morning to keeping a common gaming house. He was fined £3O or two months' imprisonment. His place was used for paknpoo. ~ Another Chinese was fined £2, or seven days' imprisonment, for being on the premises.
