Miss Betty Rutherford (Macdonald Downs) is visiting Mrs J. W. Irolcve (The Shades, Marlborough). Miss Doris Brown has returned to Mt. Thomas, from Arthur's Pass. At the morning service at St. Saviour's, Sydenham on Sunday next, a memorial service for the late Mrs Scott wife of Archdeaoon Scott will be held. The engagement is announced of Bernice, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Rutledge, Carroll street, Te Kuiti, to Stewart, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. Christie, Cameron street, Ashburton. Miss Barry and Miss E. Scrivenor returned yesterday from a short holiday in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs A. S. Doig. (Ashburton) are visiting the Dunedin Exhibition.

Mr and Mrs Jas. Clucas (Haldon, Hororata) have returned after spending a few days at the Dunedin Exhibition. Manuel Hyman and his band come direct from the Exhibition, and their dance at the "Winter Garden on Tuesday next should prove a strong attraction. Tickets, which are limited, may be obtained from The Bristol. Amongst the guests at the Clarendon are Mrs H. O. Pockley (Wellington) and Mrs H. R. Ourlevris (Ethel Turner, Sydney). Mr and Mrs A. Powell (Melbourne), Mrs Gainaway (Hamilton), and Mrs J. A. Murdoch (Hokitika) are staying at the United Service Hotel. The senior and junior match to be played at 'Shirley links to-day will be a four-bajl match, not a foursome, as previously arranged. The Wentworth Club will hold its usual weekly dance in the . Craythorne, Heaton street, St. Albans.: The annual meeting of the lady members of the Kaiapoi Golf Club was held at the golf pavilion on Monday afternoon. The club captain, Miss G. Mcintosh, presided over a small attendance of members. The following officers were elected:—Club Captain, Miss M. Purdie; secretary, Mrs T. E. Leithead; committee: Mrs J. G. Yellowlees, Miss ;M.
