METHVEN GUN CLUB.

SATURDAY'S MATCHES. The Itethven Gun Club held the usual fortnightly shoot on Mt. Harding racecourse on Saturday. Considering the many other local attractions there was a large attendance of members. Shooting conditions were ideal, some excellent performances being put up. -In all, there were four different matches, the flret being n geven-bird sweepstake, which resulted as follows:— 1 L. Hammond (18yds) .. 2021121—6 Anderson, Franks, and Cooksley divided the prize-money. In the shoot for Mr D. McLeod's Silver | Cup some very interesting shooting was done,. W. J. Cooksley and L. Anderson bringing down the full quota of 14 birds. In the shoot-off the former won on the fifth round. Cooksley hag -won the trophy outright, having twice previously won the cup. Shooting for a trophy presented by Hammond and Turner, Christchurch, with an added sweepstake, some good scoring was registered. T. S. Harrison, who eventually won in a good shoot-off In the fifth round, put up a good performance by bringing down the full quota of ten birds all off tho first barrel, while A.
