Studholme. , accordance v-ith notice previously given, Mr Wood moved: I. That a special committee be set up to consider and report on the advisability or otuemisu of rearranging tile present system ox standing committees. 11. That the committee consist of tho chairman of the four standing committees with Mr Brock »nd Mr Wood. This was seconded by Mr Banks and carried. It was reported that Messrs J. J. Dougall, \V. Brock, A. E. Flower, C. T. Aschman, J. Deans, and tho Hon. G. J. Smith would retire by rotation cn June 30th. An election would therefore be held on June 7th, nominations closin™ on May 31st. The Hi?»h Schools and Hostels Commi!4fe reported having approved of the appointment of Mr m. Bryden as president, and Mr A. R. Smith aa vice-president of the Rolleston House Council for the current year. The report was adopted. College Committee. Tho College Committee reported as follows:—Having beon advised by the Professorial Board that Professor Wall had been reappointed Dean of tho Faculty of Arts; having approved of a recommendation of the Professorial Board that tho bronze medal donated by the French Consul for the best French scholar in the College terms examination be awarded to Francis William Wentworth Khodcß; having accepted the resignations of C. 3pragge and J. Slyfield, laboratory assistants in tho Departments of Physics and Biology and having authorised the heads of theso departments to take tho necessary steps to fill tho vacant positions; that in accordance with tho recommendation of tho Faculty of Engineering, the Engineer Entrance Exhibition for 1926 be awarded to Mr D. J. B. Halley; that Mr P. W. Glover be appointed to the position of junior demonstrator in the Physice Department for tho 1926 session; the adoption of the following resolution of the Professorial Board: "That tfye subject 'Theory of Workshop Practice' be deleted from the Associat'iship Course in Civil Engineering." The committee recommended: That a special committee be appointed to confer with the Library Committee of the Professorial Board in regard to the following matters affecting the College Library: (a) The library staff, (b) The inadequacy of the present building, (c) The inadequacy of the grants to *he different departments, (d) The relation of departmental libraries to the main library, (e) Cataloguing. That a speoial grant of £SO be made for the purchase of books for the College Library on New Zealand History and social development. That, in accordance with a request from the Professorial Board, plans be prepared to provide for future building developments on the College block. The report was adopted. Students' Loan Fund. The special committee set up for the purpose recommended that a Students' Loan Fund bo established and that the sum of £660 contributed for the purpose be paid over to such fund; that the Professorial Board he requested to Bubmit draft regulations to govern file granting of loans under the fund, the control of the fund to be vested in the Board of Governors aa trustees. The report was adopted. , A apecip.l committee reported having authorised the erection of a gallery and platform in the old assembly room of the school; having decided to retain the gymnasium for the use of the athletic clubs of the College, and having approved of an extension to the tennis court to enable it to be used for baiketball practice by the Women's Basketball Cluh The report was adopted.
