In the Davis Cup tennis trials, Austin beat Wheatley 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3; Higgs beat Gilbert 7-9, 3-6, 6-9, 6-4, 7-5; Turnbull beat Kingaley 6-2, 6-3, 2-6, 8-6. In the doubles, Kingsley and Crolerees beat Godfree and Wheatley 3-6 i 7.5, 6-2, 7-5. TILDEN DEFEATED. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CMX.B ASSOCIATION.) (Received April 25th, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 24. At White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Richards defeated Tilden 11-9, 6-2, 2-6, 3-6, 6-3 in the singles final of the Mason-Dixon tournament on Saturday. Tilden was defending the champion Mason-Dixon trophy. MID-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP. (iEUTXB's TMJtGRAMS.) (Received April 25th, 11.5 p.m.) HONOLULU, April 24. Gervais Hillis won the Mid-Pacific tennis singles championship on Saturday, defeating Gerald Stratford 8-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the finals. The players reside at Berkley, California.
