# DELIGHTFUL COMEDY. "CLOTHES MAKE T?E PIRATE." EVERYBODY'S THEATRE, TO-DAY. One of tho most entertaining programmes of pictures yet seen in Cbristchurch will be presented at Everybody's Theatre today, when "Clothes Make the Pirate" will make its initial appearance at this popuhr tneatre. This brilliant and witty I'ii3t National cooiedy is oiiginal from beginning to end, a story even remotely akin to it never appearing on the screen before, and as the treatment ia in accordance with the theme and the acting of the principals in sympathy with boih, it is obrious that a prince cf pictures results. There 13 a, strong suFgeai'.on nf comic-opera about 'Clothes Make the Pirate"; i; is .eplete with mock heroics, nautical tnrco that makes no attempt to cover up its whimsical flippancies and deep subtleties, little that w:ll evoke an appreciative ptugh bv the niil with which domestic iiphc.ivals are treated. It is truly refreshing to see a picture occasionallv that demands no solution from the mind of the audience, that docs not oppre.-s with any hint of "high-brow," that is just pure comedy, clever, sparkling, witty, and which offers, besides entertainment, complete mental re3t. Interpreting the main characters are Dorothy Gish, as the pirate's naggirvr wife, a caustic and fiery dame indeed, nrd T/eon Errol, as Tidd the pirate, whose hilarious exploits, accepted with amusing solemnity at first, gradually work up to a cciitable efr.rzando of mirth. These two arlists arp amazingly at their ease in this boisterous rr.mcdv of (he hitrh seas, arguittcr, quarrelling, bouncing, while the prototype of Long John Silver bears dewn on them. They are supported by such wellknown players as 'fnilv Marshall, Nita Xnldi, and James Rennie, who all fall into the holiday spirit of the story with admirable zest. Als" on the programme is "The Tenth Woman," a mo3t interesting drama of feminine psychology, which is not without its humorous side. Xine women out of ten will do, in a given situation, the same thing, but the tenth woman is different, and this picture gives a good study of the woman who makes a cult of sensation rather than originality, and invariably has reasons to regret. June Marlow and John Roche are the stars, and an old favourite, Beverly Bavno, makes a reappearance in this picture. Everybody's Select Orchestra, under Mr W. J Bellingham, F.S.M., will play an appropriate musical programme, including the following:—Overture, "Orpheus" (Offenbach): suite, "De Janire" (Debussy); "Nautical Scenes" (Fletcher); dance suite, "Tom Jones" (German); opera, "Pirates of Penzance"' (Sullivan), "H.M.S. Pinafore' (Sullivan), "Merrie England" (German); entr'acte, "Romance" (David): fox-trot novelties, "Tell All the World" (Thayer), "Wait Till You All See Mv Gal" (Finlay). The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Co., where seats may be reserved.
