SUPREME COURT. ; IN CHAMBERS. Probates of the wills of the following deceased persons iu tho Cliristchurch district have been granted to the Public Trustee by the Supreme Court at Wellington:—-Ellen Barry, lato of Christehurch, widow; Alexander Fraser, late of Christehurch, retired cooper; Frederick James liorrell, Into' of Rangiora, garage proprietor; Wilfred Tiylor James, late of Christehurch, warehouseman; John McCaidon, lato of Christehurch, engineer; Annie Quaid, lato of Christehurch, married woman. Administration has also been granted to the Public Trustee in the intestate estato of Elizabeth Mary Kerr, Into of Sydenham, married woman. * MAGISTERIAL. SATURDAY. ' (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. .' Two first offending inebriates were .each fined 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. REMANDED. A traveller, whose name was suppressed, was charged with, having driven a motor-car while in a state of intoxication. Ho >'as remanded to appear on Tuesday. Mr Tracy, for accused, asked if the name might be suppressed until tho case was heard. His request was granted. NO ORDER MADE. In tho Magistrate's Court on Thursday, before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., a rehearing of tho case, P. M. Merry v. H. H. Napier., /or. £22 Gb 3d, .was taken. _ The order mado tho previous day was rescinded, •no further order being made. CHILD WELFARE ACT. JUVENILE COURT CHANGES. The first Juvenile Court sitting in Chrißtchurch since the Child' Welfare Act camo into force was held before Mr H. Y. Widdow-son,-S.M., on Saturday. The usual-formali-ties of Court procedure 'have been done away with, and any constables present were in plain clothes. A boy of 1-1 years was charged with •throwing missiles. Tho Magistrate pointed out to the boy where such larrikinism would lead him if continued. Ho was placed under the observation of tho Child Welfare Officer for twelve months. ' Two boys aged IS and one aged 12 werebrought before the Magistrate on account of being concerned in a raid on an orchard;. The two elder lads, whoso home lifo was satisfactory, wero admonished and' discharged. In the case of the younger boy the Magistrate told the mother that she would have to exert more control over her son,'who was placed under the strict control of the Child Welfare Officer for twelve months.
