CROQUET.

ASHBURTON CLUB. The Ashburton Croquet Club brought its season to a close on Saturday afternoon, when there was a very large attendance o{ members. A break and stroke competition was played for seniors and juniors, During the ten adjournment Mrs h. C. Dunn, the club captain, expressed pleasilre at seeing such a large gathering. The season had been n most successful and enjoyable one from every point of view. They had lost the junior flag, but otherwise the" club had been successful in winning a number of closely contested matches. Members we're to be congratulated on the marked improvement which had been shown in tile play generally, and also on the keen enthusiasm which had been displayed by all the members. Mrs Dunn then asked the president, Mrs K. B. Newton, to present the prizes won during the season to the following:— Club championship: Miss J. Hosken; handicap singles, senior: Miss J. Hosken 1, Miss Moore 2, Mrs T. M, Clark 3; the Buxton trophy, Mrs F. Brodie; Mrs T. H. Hunter's ■prize, Mrs D. Heenan; handicap singles, junior: Mrs W. Patterson and Mr G. Hosken, equal, 1 ; the Buxton trophy: Mrs J. I.anc; handicap doubles, senior: Mrs Ij. O. Dunn and Mrs F. Brodie. equal, 1, (Mrs C. Boyce and Mr D. Keenan, equal, 2.
