DELIGHTFUL COMEDY.

——— "CLOTHES MAKE THE PIRATE." EVERYBODY'S THEATRE MOXDAY. One of tho moat entertaining programmes of: pictures yet seen in Ckristchurch will be presented at Everybody's Theatre on Monday, wlisn "Clothes Make tho Pirate" will make its initial appearance at this popular theatre. This brilliant and witty First Kational' comedy is original from'beginning to end, a atory even remotely akin to it never appearing on the screen before, and a-s the treatment is in accordance with the theme and tho acting of the principals in sympathy with both, it is obvious that a. prince Of pictures results. There is a strong suggestion of comic-opera about ''Clothes ilflke tho Pirate"; it is replete with moo!< heroics, nautical farce that makes no attempt to cover up its whimsical flippancies and deep subtleties, little shafts_ that will evoke an appreciative laugh ""by the airiness with which domestic apheavals are treated. It i< truly refreshing to see a, picture occasionally that demands no solution from the mind of the audience, that does not oppress with any hin.t, o£ "high-brow," that is just pure comedy, clever, uparkling, witty, and which offers, besides entertainment, complete mental rest. Interpreting the main characters arc Dorothy Gish, as the pirate's naggirl.T wife, a caustic and fiery dame indeed, and Leon Errol, as Tidd tho pirate, whose hilarious exploits, accepted with amusing solemnity at first, gradually work up to » veritable pfcrzando of mirth. These two artists are amazingly at their ease in this boisterous comedy of the high seas, arguing, quarrelling, bouncing, while tho prototype of Long John Silver bears down on them. They are supported by such wellknown players as 'fully Marshall, Nita Naldi, and James Rennie, who all fall into the holiday spirit of the story with admirable zest.

Also on the programme is "The Tenth Woman," a moat interesting 'drama of femir.ino psychology, which is not without its humorous side. Sine women out of ten will do. in a given situation, the same thing, but the tenth -woman ia different, and thiq picluro gives a good study of the woman who makes a cult of sensation rather than originality, and invariably has reasons to regret. June Harlow and John Kocho are the stars, and an old favourite, Beverly Bayne, makes a reappearance in this picture. Everybody's Select Orchestra, under Mr W. J. fteilingbam, F.S.M., will play an appropriate musical programme, including the following:—Overture, "Orpheus" (Offenbach): suite, "De Janiro" (Debussy); "Nautical Scenes" (Fletcher); dance suite, "Tom Jones" (German); opera, "Pirates of Penzance'" (Sullivan), "H.M.S. Pinafore (SullivaD), "Merrie England" (German); entr'acte. "Romance" (David): fox-trot noyeliics. "Tell All the World" (Thayer), "Wait Till You All Sea Mv Gal" (Finlay). The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Co., where scats may be reserved.
