Stormy scenes,on "wet" and questions, marked a recent meeting of Aberdeen Town Council. • In December the council unanimously resolved that all civic functions Should be "dry," and ah angry scene developed when it was reported that intoxicants had been served at a luncheon the links and parks committee had given to an architect. Anger, allayed by the assurances, that the members had themselves paid for the'drinks, broke''out anew when a Labour member said that during a visit with members of another committee to the suburbs, a bottle of whisky was produced and consumed by some of those who had voted the council "dry." This he termed "sheer hypocrisy." The Provost's ruling that tho resolution lipplied only to civic functions was described by the Labour councillor as "a quibble." After heated debate, notice, of motion to rescind the "dry" resolution was tabled.
