| Personal. I Mrs J. D. Lawrence has returned from Waimatc, where she has been visiting her daughter, Mrs E. C. Kawnsley. Miss Muriel Wood (The Esplanade) lias returned from a short visit to llanraer. Miss Peggy Dean has returned from a holiday to Dunedin. Miss Audrey Hewitt (Cambridge), who has been staying with Mrs F. H. Hamilton (Redeliffs), has gone to stay with friends in Wellington. Mr and Mrs C. Benjamin (Stoke street) have gone to Dunedin for a holiday, Mr 'and Mrs W. .T. Sim (Clifton) have .returned from Wellington. Mrs C. J. Wilson and Miss Marjery Wilson (Richmond hill) are staying at "The Lodge," Hanmer. Mr and Mrs 11. Barlow (llardwieke street) have returned from AVellington. Mrs 11. C. S. .Tamießon (Esplanade) is spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs Anderson (Bennetts). Mr and Mrs S. P. Dalton (Redeliffs) left yesterday for the West Coast where tliev will spend a few days. Mr W. G. Black (Redeliffs) has left for Dunedin. Miss Edith Ellis has returned from a visit to Timaru and Dunedin. Mrs York (Esplanade) lenves on Monday for a visit to Mrs Robert Mulligan (Ashburton). Mrs J. Leithend (Dunediu) is staying with Mrs Isaac Wilson, "Brantholme," Head street. St. Leonard's Park. Tho official opening of St. Leonard's park will take place to-day, when a football match, Sumner v. Kaiapoi, will be played. <The opening Ceremony will be performed by the Mayor (Mr W. H. Nicholson). Ansae Day. To-morrow, Anzac Day celebrations will be held in All Saints' Church. At the 11" o'clock service, the territorials under Lieutenant Taylor, returned soldiers, and relatives of the fallen, will be present. Floral tributes received will be hung.round the "Roll of Honour." Special hymns will be sung and Miss Marian Woodhouse is to sing "0 Valiant Hearts." A borough service will be held in the Town Hall at 11 o'clock. A procession will move from Clifton, and will proceed via the Borough Memorial, where wreaths will be laid, to tho Town Hall. School Jubilee. The Jubilee celebrations in connexion with the Sumner School commence next Thursday. The celebrations will be concluded on Sunday with a thanksgiving service, and the planting of a memorial oak. Plunket Society. The second annual meeting of the Sumner Plunket Society was held in the Parish Boom. The Mayoress (Mrs W. ,H. Nicholson) presided over an excellent attendance. Mrs Godby, hon. treasurer of the Christchurch branch, spoke of the.growth of the Plunket work all over the world, but specially in Christchureh and its suburbs. Nurse Wilson reported on her year's work in Sumner and Eedcliffs, and related some of the interesting experiences during the period. From the reports given ,by the speakers it was evident that tremendous growth had been made in all branches. • The Mayoress presented Mrs Pascoe, the retiring president, with a beautiful Indian brass vase—a'tnemento from the committee of two happy years' work under her guidance. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs Beaven; vicepresidents, Mrs Fife-Slater, and Mrs Eichards; hon. secretary, Mrs Walter Mouldey; hon. treasurer, Mrs Seymour; committee: Mesdames W. J. Sim, Eow, Claydon, G. Jobberns, B. J. Agar, Keig, Cother, Lawry, and Misses Bilton, Cook, and Overton.
