PERSONAL. (special to "tot pbiss.") GREYMOUTH, April 22. Misses E. McMastcr and Ei Heinz left this morning for Dunedin on holiday. Mr and Mrs H. Gilmer, of Raupo, returned this afternoon from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs \V. Peck, of Hokitika, leave to-morrow, by motor, for Christchurch and Dunedin. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., and Miss Holland left this morning for Wellington. Among the outward passengers by today's express were: Mesdames L. Leahy, E. V. Arthur, W. H. Johnston, A. Parker, Misses Murtha (3), 11. Deerc, I. Weeniuk, E. and G. E. Pairhall, Messrs T. Oxenhani, and R. Wickcs. Messrs I*]. J. Ross (Christchurch), J. M. Barker (Timam), H. Daymond (Chatham Islands), and W. R. A. Cox (Christchurch), who have been visiting Greymouth, were among the outward passengers by to-day's express. Mrs R. Wood, Wellington, is visiting Mr and Mrs C. Wood, Greymouth. Mrs Mayo, who has been visiting Dunedin, returned this afternoon. Mr and Mrs W. Wililanis, Westport, left this morning on a holiday trip to Dunedin. Mrs J. McSherry left this morning for Invcrcargill, on a visit to her mother. Mr A. F. Drayton arrived from Christehureh this afternoon. Mr A. Leitch, who has been visiting his parents in Greymouth, returned this morning, en route to Gisborne. Mrs J. Chamberlain has been appointed organist at St. Stephen's Church, Reefton, in succession to Miss D. Brooks. Mr and Mrs Leslie Jones and Mrs R. J. Smith (Wellington), who aro motoring ton the Coast, left for Murchison this afternoon. Misses K. Badger, A. Clements, and Mrs IV. Caldwell returned this afterw>on from a holiday spent in Christchun'h, Oamaru, and Dunedin. Miss I. Orange arrived from Christchurch this afternoon, and is the guest of' Miss K. Badger: Xursc G. Gould, of the Grey Hospital staff, returned this afternoon from a three weeks' vacation spent in Oamaru and Dunedin. Senior-Sergeant P.' J. McCarthy returned this afternoon from a visit to Auckland. Among the inward passengers, by today's express wore: Mrs J. Reynolds, Messrs J. Reynolds, R. McGowan, and P. T. Bennington. Mr W. Keller, of Hokitika, returned this afternoon from Wellington, Dunedin, and Christchurch.

Mr A. W. Baggs, Telegraph Engin> ecr, arrived this afternoon from Christ' church.

Mr P. V. Arthur, chief clerk at the Railway workshops, leaves on a three weeks' holiday on Saturday, and will bo relieved hy Mr G. H. Kayes, of the chief mechanical engineer's office, Wellington. Mr W. A. Eennolly of the Head Offico of the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, has arrived at Beefton to relieve Mr Instono during the latter's absenco on holidays. Mr Bcnnell is accompanied by Mrs Eennell. Mr and Mrs J. Muldoon, of Eecfton, have returned from a holiday visit to Dunedin.

Mrs T. F. Simpson (Taumarunui) is visiting her sister, Mrs W. Burnett (Eeeftou). Mr E. Norris, of Westport, left today for Tjmaru and Dunedin. Among the Westport visitors to Dunedin arc: Misses O'Connor and Senior, Mcsdanies Senior, Williams, Messrs Schaab, M. McPaddon, S. Williamson, T. Williams, J. Horrocks '(2), Ncuman, and Williams.

Mr and Mrs T. Bennett, of Mokihinui, aro visiting Christchurch. ' Mr F. S.' Wood, who represented the Buller Progress League at the Dunedin conference has returned to Westport.

A kitchen evening was tondered last evening to Miss Clarice Intemann and Mr Frank McLean, jun., whose marriage is shortly to be celebrated, at the residence of Mr and Mrs Intemann, Westport. There was an attendance of over fifty present, and tho two guests of honour wcro presented with numerous suitable gifts. Major T. Carr, V.D., is leaving Westport on Saturday for Christchurch, to attend the wedding of his daughter, Evelyn to Mr E. G. Cooper, of Christchurch. The marriago is to take place on Tuesday evening, May 4th, in St. John's Church, Latimer square, with the Rev. J. F. Coursey as the officiating clergyman. Major Carr will go on to Dunedin, to see the closing of the Exhibition. Wedding. The wedding was solemnised at St. Stephen's Church, Beef ton, yesterday afternoon, of Dorothy, eldest • daughter of Mr and Mrs A. T. Brooks, of Eeefton, and Ernest, youngest son of Mrs and the late Clement Parfitt, of Greymouth. The ccremon}', which was fully choral, was performed by tho Rev. J. W. Bloyce. Miss N. Parfitt, niece of the bridegroom, officiated at the organ. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride, a dainty wedding bell of pink flowers being suspended over her. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of pale pink georgette aild silver lace. Her pale pink veil was arranged under a circlet of silver leaves, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet of pink and white roses and maidenhair fern, . with streamers of tulle. Shoes and stockings of silver completed a dainty toilette. The bridesmaids were Misses Clarice and Marjorie Brooks, sisters of the bride, who wore frocks of silver and blue georgette, the overdresses of blue embroideries in silver being arranged with straight bodices, and flared skirts over silver niaroeain. They carried Victorian posies of white and blue flowers. Mr S. Oxenham, of Greymouth, was best man, and Mr A. A. Fitzgerald was groomsman. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Among the guests were Mr W. H. Parfitt (Mayor of Greymouth), brother of the bridegroom, Mrs Parfitt, and the Misses Parfitt. Mr and Mrs Parfitt left later for Christchurch and Wellington, the bride travelling in a smart brown tailored costume with small hat of brown suede, and Oriental trimming. Kumara Magistrate's Court. I At the Kumara Magistrate's Court, before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., John Armstrong, of Runanga, was fined £5 with costs, for negligently driving a motor-car on the beaeb road, Kumara, on March 2nd last, the day of the Kumara Jubilee sports. Cycling Accident. Miss Mary Phelan, a school-teacher, residing in High street, met with an accident when cycling in Tainui street this morning. She was picked up in a dazed condition, and after receiving medical attention was conveyed to her home. She escaped with slight injuries, but is suffering from sbocTc. The Weather. Following a short spell of mild weather, a drizzling rain set in this morning and increased as "the day wore on to a steady downpour. Prospeeta of the weather clearing were not favourable this evening.

Hokitlka Magistrate's Court; At a sitting of the Hokitika Magistrate's Court, to-d3y, Mr ,W.. Meldrum, S.M., presided. M. Keenan, licensee of the Royal Mail Hotel, Woodstock,' was charged with selling liquor after hours, with keeping open for sale, and with i exposing liquor for sale after hours. De-; fendant pleaded not guilty to the first two charges and guilty t& the other.
