LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (PBMS ASSOCIATIOK TBLEGBAM.) DUNEDIN, April 22. . The second annual conference, of the League of Nations Union was commenced to-day. The Dominion president, Dr. A; G. B. Fisher, was in the chair, and delegates were present representing all tho main. branches. • The Dunedin remit was carred: That this conference, while welcoming Germany's entry into the League,: and her election..to a.seat on .the Council, views with profound concern tho' proposal further to increase the number of permrfnent members of Hie Council, and ur'gcs the British Government to resist such an increase.
A Christchurch remit:/ "That the; League of Nations Union urgo - tho Government to send a full delegation of four to the conference of the International ..Labour organisation. at Genei'aj" was carried. Several speakers criticised the Government' for its refusal to send delegates. : A Christchurch jemit was carried urging the Government to send at least three fully accredited'delegates 'to 'all future ordinary assemblies, and suggesting that in view of the Imperial Conference the Prime Minister bo urged to attend tho September Assembly. Eemits were carried urging the establishment in the Dominion of a League of Nations Parliamentary Group, similar to the ' British ; Parliamentary League Committee, and also requesting the Dominion Council to set up a Commission . to ascertain the legal obligations devolving on New Zealand as a member of the League. Tho following officers were elected: Patron, Sir Francis Bell; president, Dr. Fisher; secretary, Mrs Denton Leech. Tho executive was unchanged, but several new vice-presidents were added.
