' Jockey -Club. At a meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club advice was received from the Bacing Conference that the annual meeting would be held in Weilington on July 7th. It was decided to forward a remit for consideration at the conference: "That it be a recommendation that in future arrange- [ ments should be made with the Trotting Conference that no alteration be allowed of dates allotted without being agreed to by both Racing and Trotting I Conferences." It was agreed to apply for December 10th and llth'and April 28th and 30th as dates for next season. In reply to a request that a halfholiday should be observed on Thursday, April 29th, the Employers' Association wrote that it had keen made a rule not to agree to any extra holidays except in very special circumstances, but if any employee wished to attend the raees it was suggested that he should make application to his own employer ior such holiday. A meeting of the committee was held recently to receive the balance-sheet of the recent very successful bazaar, the following members being present;— Mesdames McKeown, Riches, Mcintosh, Baker, Heney, Chisnall, MaLeod, Marks, Misses L. Webb and V. Crawford (secretary). The secretary read the receipts and expenditure, the credit balance being £9O 4s. It was j decided to allocate this as follows : I Dr. Baruardo's Homes, £2O; Temuka Salvation Army Boys' Home, £l7 Us; St. Saviour's Orphanage (Timaru), £l7 Us; Presbyterian Orphanage (Timaru), £l7 lis; and £l7 lis to be used to provide. swings and a sand-pit at the \Yoodbury School. At the annual general meeting of the Woodbury Ladies' Miniature Rifle Club, the following members were present: —Mesdames Harris, Baker, McLeod, Chisnall, Marks, Misses M. Legg, and D. Harrison. Dixon, and Spencer. It was arranged, to hold the weekly shoots on Tuesday evenings at 7.80, as formerly, the first shoot to be held on May 4th. The two young men, Messrs G. Kain and D. Fergusson, who were injured' in j a motor-cycle- accident last week, are making good progress towards recovery. Mr Kain has recovered sufficiently to be discharged from hospital, but Mr Fergusson is still a patient at the Geraldine Hospital.
