WAPITI IN SOUNDS.
# e STALKERS SECURE THREE HEADS. (PEESS 48SOCIATIOS TELEGBAiI.) DUNEDIN, April 21. Although several stalking parties in quest of wapiti have returned from tho Sounds district of Western Otago and Southland unsuccessful, the experience of one party in the neighbourhood of George Sound shows that wapiti are increasing in numbers in that locality. The party consisted of Major Barker, of Geraldine, and Messrs N« Olsen and F. Holberg, of Wairarapa, and during a trip extending over some three weeks, they saw well over half a hundred beasts, all in good condition. Three satisfactory heads were secured, one 11 pointer, 'and two 13 pointers, these being the first heads secured this season.
