"CLOTHES MAKE THE PIRATE."

♦ LEON ERROL AND DOROTHY GISH. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE MONDAY. There have been many funny comedies, many clever comedies, many satirical comedies, but there have been very few witty comedies. Under this last-named category must full "Clothes Make the Pirate," a First National picture which makes its first appearance at Everybody's Theatre- next week. It is broad comedy from beginning to end, with a plot that is delightfully now, treatment that is eminently artistic, and sparkling with a fluent wit that is subtle and brilliant. There are moments when one is, inclined to forget it is comedy, unadorned, that one is viewing, but it is only fox an instant that one is so misled, for timely bursts of humour suddenly are a reminder that here :s pure farce, artistic withal, that is being blended into the perfect comedy of the year. The story i« laid in old Boston in the days before the War of Independence, where one Dame idd, a lady as pert as her name,' encountered trouble with a timid spouse on account of his penchant for all things piratical. This lady, with a degree of fierinesa unusual in her gentle sex, exacts admirable and implicit obedience from Mr Tidd, until his longing for the sea overcomes his fear and respect for Dame Betsy, and then the fun commences The story holds ample material for comedy acting of the higher order, and as it is absolutely new in theme, refreshing in treatment, and superbly acted by a talented cast, patrons can be assured of sufficient gleeful momenta to satisfy the staidest sceptic. As the fiery Dame Betsy, Dorothy Gieh will surprise her most devoted admirers by her display of talent in this comedy role, and as Cap'n Tidd, Leon Enrol wins the comedy crown of 1926. The box plans open at The Bristol Piano Company tc-day.
