The Ucv. J. L. Knowles, the 70-year-old vicar of New Mills, Stockport," was ordered at Derby Assizes to pay iSIoOO damages to a motor-cyclist's widow. Mr Knowles was driving a ear when it came into collision with a motor-cycle ridden by Mr Martin, of Staveley. The vicar was acquitted on a charge of manslaughter. ELECTION NOTICES.
