A PRESENTATION.

♦ DEPARTING UNION SECRETARY. Members of the Printing Trades Union gathered in the Trader Hall last evening to say farewell to Mr Chris. Rcnn, who leaves for England on Saturday. Mr Renn has been tccretary of tho Federation of Unions lor eight years. Mr P. Thomson, president of the Union, was in the chair, and said that during his term of oUice. Mr Benu had done great work for the Union. The Union had advanced a long way on the j road'to success under Mr llenn's guid- ' Mice. Ho had always been held in high by employer and employee. On ibehulf of the. Union ho expressed their sincere regret at losing so valuable a man. Mr Renn's unfailing tact and courtesy had taken the Union over many hurdles, and his loyalty had never been m;question; He wished tlw departing guest every success in his new venture. ,- Several other members also spoke in a similar vein. , The , chairman then presented Mr Renn with a Kodak camera and a handsome pair of binoculars. . „In returning thanks, Mr Renn said "that he was Very grateful to the Union members for their handsome presents. His connexion with the printers of New Zealand had been a long one. He was pleased to note that during the past few years there had heen a slight improvement in conditions. It was a wise move when the Canterbury printers decided to amalgamate and join up in one Union. That amalgamation had had a very happy result. He would carry away with him grateful'memories of tho assistance and loyalty he had received'from tho officers*of tho Printing Trades Union.
