N.Z. DINNER.

DUKE OP YORK CHIEF GUEST, j (TOOK OTJB OWW COBRmOIiDBItT.) LONDON, February 24. Last year the New Zealand Annual Dinner in London, which had been, in abeyance since the outbreak of the war, was revived, and it proved to be a J great success. On that occasion there were some 300 present, and the chief guests were Lord Jellieoe and Mr L. S. Amery. The members of the Dinner Committee, who are practically the same as last year, have the matter again in hand, and have fixed Juno Bth as the date for this year's function. The Duke of York has already accepted an invitation and he will be the chief guest. Others who will receive invitations are Lord Allenby, Sir Charles Davis (Permanent Secretary ,of State for Dominion Affairs), Mr J. H. Thomas, Lord Kanfurlv, Lord Islington, Lord Liverpool, and* Lord Jellieoe. Sir James Allen, of course, will be the host. As far as possible, it is the intention to provide a dinner of New Zealand produce. There will be Toheroa soup and New Zealand lamb and fruit. The High Commissioner has been asked to write to the Dominion Government requesting that a certain number of rainbow trout be sent to London in ice. If this is done there will be an excellent opportunity for publicity. The monster trout will make good "copy" for the daily papers and will make a good item for the illustrated journals. This year the menu will be printed in plain English. The Grenadier Guards' Orchestra has bee? engaged to provide the music.

The secretary of the committee is Captain L. E. L. Donne (of Messrs Hamer and Co., Strand) to whom New Zealanders coming to London should apply for tickets*
