RETURN TO LONDON. (from ous own correspondent.) . LONDON, March 4. » Miss Stella Murray arrived at Tilbury by the Port Bowen on Saturday, afternoon, and was met by Mis Bernard Myers ( wnose guest she at present is) and Miss Myers. She is looking very lit, and speaks with great enthusiasm ot her visit to lNew Zealand, and tUe hospitality and appreciation there accoruea Her. ixetresned by the voyage, sue hopes soon to resume her work in London. Miss Murray was much pleased during the voyage to receive a telegram from Messrs lobs and Xillett ottering her an engagement for the Good JDViday concert at the Crystal JP&I&C6< On Sunday afternoon, the day after her arrival, Mr Shayle Gardner held a reception in honour of the New Zealand contralto.- This very pleasant function took place at his quaint home in South Kensington. 'lt was a wartime necessity ior mews to be made habitable, and now the adoption of this novel type of residence has become quite a fashion. Mr Gardner lives in the quiet seclusion of_ Queensberry Mews. The reception "rooms were transformed by artistic draperies, and by the display of many fine etchings .by Mr Sydney Long, the well-known Australian etcher. These attracted considerable attention and interest, and some of them found new owners before the afternoon was very,old. Among those who made selections . were MiGeorge Belcher, Mrs Matheson Lang, and Miss Lily Brayton. * Mr Gardner was ably assisted by Mrs H. L. Friend, who acted as hostess. All those able to be present Md a very • pleasant time, and New ' Zealanders were delighted to have the honour ot meeting a number of people who are 'prominently connected with the world . of drama, art, and music. Mr Gardner himself is much engaged in film work with the Stoll Picture Copany, prior to his coming year's tour of the provinces and Canada with Mr Matheson Lang. Over a hundred guests were 'invited.
