BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the North Beach and mairi Burgesses' Association was held in tho Memorial Hall, North Beach, when Mr E. A. M. Leaver presided over a, fair attendance. . ■ The Heathcotc County Council wrote stating that as the Drainage Board proposed laying drains along Kerr's road it would be throwing money away to spend money on repair work at the present time. The meeting agreed with that view. In reply to the Association's request for t Manual Training School at. Main Brighton, the Education Board wrote stating that the proposed Bchool would require an expenditure of £2OOO. The chairman reported that since the request had been made further steps had been taken in the matter by the School Committees concerned, and the matter was to be gone on -with. The New Brighton Borough Council wrote stating that the question of access to the Osborne terrace Reserve from Jubilee avenue and the extension of the conveniences were to come up for favourable consideration when tho estimates were being drawn up. Several members mentioned the extraordinary waste of good road metal by the Tramway Board, in that thousands of yards of good spoil were being dumped into the Bexley swamp, whore apparently ordinary sand would have done the work. It was decided to write asking the Tramway Board if they could see th«' r wa i' to make tho metal available for the local bodies requiring cheap spoil. Several complaints were made concerning the delay in tho erection of a concrete protecting wall on the beach, such delay resulting in the possible loss of the Government subsidy of £250. It was decided to protest to the Council on the delay. It was decided to ask the New Brighton Borough Council to continue the hardening of the newly widened portion of the Esplanade; to draw tho Council's attention to the very bad state of Rookwood avenue and Bowhill road, particularly near the tram line, and to remind the Council of its promise to restore the brush fence on the beach opi posite Berry street and Pacific road. In view of the annual meeting of hous«holders, it was decided to endorse the nomination of Messrs Freeborn, A. E. Hutton, W. McDonald, E. A. M. Leaver, and Rev. W. F. Eno'.vles, and to ask Messrs H.
