ASHBURTON GUN CLUB.
1 ANNUAL MEETING. • The annual meeting of the Ashburton Gun Club wm hold last evening, ihe president, Mr E. P. V. Sealey, presiding. The balanoe-abeet, which allowed & credit balance of £36 Os Gd, was adopted. The chairman stated that though the past season bad been so successful, menjbers had to remember that th* majority of the trophies were given. If the shooting was to | be extended, calls would have to be made i -upon the funds of the dub. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr E. B. Newton; president, Mr A. Bray; joint secretaries, Messrs W. J. Dalley and A. Annand; captain, Mr J. Drummond; auditor, Mr H. Sarnoy; committee, itessrs W. Timms, T. Corbett, S. Knox, A. Corbett, D. Heenan, T. Parrish, and J. Mora; seventeen vice-presidents were elected. The president, captain, and Mr Dalley were appointed a aub-oommittee to interview the Ashburton County Racing Club with regard to shooting grounds. It was decided to approach the various clubs with a view to a shield competition. A live-bird shoot was urged by Mr Sealey, and the matter was referred to the incoming committee for its favourable consideration. Mr Dalley Announced that in all probability the Ashburton Club would be offered tie South Island championship for live or clay, bird shoots. The opening shoot waa fixed for May 15th. Mr Annand stated that already a trophy had been given for the coming aeason by Hammond and Turner, i Messrs A. Bray and D. Heenan each offered a cup for competition during tho year, and Mr W. J. Dalley gave a medal for the most improved shooter.
