AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
THE NORTH ISLAND SITE. (PRISS ASSOCIATION TELZGEAX.), v WELLINGTON, April 20. A deputation waited upon Mr Hawken, Minister for Agriculture, to-night to press the claims of the Rangitikei district in the selection of a Bite for the agricultural college which is to be established in the North, Island. Mr \Y. H. Field, M.P.. and members of the deputation stressed the advantages the district possessed lor such a site.
The Minister replied that as yet no choice of she had been made, and after having waited so long. it would not. be rushed, while there was an opportunity of getting the best possible site. So far as lie was concerned, the site selected would be the best available. They had not found a perfect site yet, and he, was prepared to wait further in order to be able to reach a sound decision. No parochial consideration would weigh with the committee. He did not think an immediate decision would be given, for it was not possible to go out and bay <i piece-of suitable land in a week or t«'o. as .'some people thought. 'He realised the importance of the points brought before him. and he .assured.' the deputation that these would be given full consideration.
